The Integrated Economic, Social and Cultural Strategy for County Sligo (2002 – 2012)The Strategy represents a set of agreed priorities by all public and local agencies in Sligo on the future development of the County over a 10 year period. It is a statutory document, which means that all public agencies must have regard to the Strategy in developing and implementing their own plans and programmes. Sligo County Development Board does not, itself, directly implement the County Strategy but relies on the agencies and organisations operating within the County to deliver and take responsibility for specific elements of implementation. The development of the Strategy was highly consultative in nature and this has ensured a broad consensus on the key strategic objectives contained within the Strategy. A ten year vision for County Sligo has been developed as follows:- “Sligo is a place with vibrant cultural and commercial activity, a thriving urban centre, dynamic and safe urban and rural communities, a strong sense of civic pride and superior quality of life”. The underlying philosophy of the Strategy is to enhance “The quality of life, health and well-being of all the people who live and work in the County”. Download the
